The Cleveland Industrial Retention Initiative
(CIRI) is an integral part of Mayor Frank Jackson's plan to link
manufacturing businesses to valuable community resources that can help
manufacturers improve operations and maintain profitability. Through
its collaboration with WIRE-Net and with Midtown Cleveland, CIRI
continues its mission to raise industry awareness of available
resources to stimulate business and neighborhood investment, foster
job creation, and make Cleveland more 'user friendly'.
CIRI's Industrial Outreach Managers are located
in offices throughout the city providing resources and solutions to
assist companies. Working with WIRE-Net's manufacturing, redevelopment
and workforce experts, CIRI supports and makes connections in the
following areas:
-
Public
services, safety and security, building
permits, and zoning
-
Public
financing and incentives
-
Infrastructure
improvement advocacy
-
Real
estate site selection and development
-
Manufacturing
operations improvement
-
Workforce
training programs targeting the manufacturing and metals
industries
-
Environmental compliance
CIRI is the outreach partner in MAGICC, a new
manufacturing initiative that is designed to improve training support
to one of Cleveland's largest and most important industrial sectors -
the metals industries. The Cobalt Group, Cuyahoga Community College,
Employment Connection, MAGNET, Max Hayes Career and Technical High
School, and WIRE-Net are the partners in the 3-year initiative,
funded in part by the US Department of Labor.
